Death took the stage around twenty minutes after nine and for the next forty-five minutes, delivered one of the best punk concerts Richmond will ever see. Like most people there, I've been a big fan since I first saw the documentary A Band Called Death, so this was the one set above all else for Fall Line Fest that I not only wanted to see, but had to see. If you haven't checked out that fabulous documentary by now, make plans to watch it this week, as it's one of the best rock documentaries you'll ever see. READ MORE AT: AVR.com
There’s a great and unspoken conspiracy theory threaded into the homespun family- centric narrative of the surprisingly feel-good documentary A Band Called Death. But, first, the story, as recounted by directors Mark Christopher Corvino and Jeff Howlett, who let the band members tell the story at their own pace against an attic’s worth of faded photos and rusty-sounding audio tracks. READ MORE AT: cjp.com
“This is where Death was born!” Bad Brains? zegt u…nee dus: Death was eerder. Maar niemand die het wist.
Right from the start, their veteran status was completely evident. It's rare to see such a dynamic and capable rhythm section. There's something inherently special about brothers who have been playing together longer than most of their audience has been alive. They're able to pull off a level of musicianship rarely seen in any punk band. READ MORE AT: Dallasobserver.com
Death came out to present a solid dosage of their material old and new, including the 2012 single ‘Relief’, and even a couple of songs they’d never performed live before. It’s clear from their performance that they still have what it takes to deliver this music, not only playing the parts right but doing so with the attitude and expression it demands, which in many ways is as important as the music itself. They brought forth a real old-school Detroit rock ‘n roll vibe, and I was instantly reminded of the fact that a much younger Detroit-based band Against The Grain had played on this very stage a few months ago. It just puts things into perspective in terms of the pioneering impact of Death on an entire genre, and on the Detroit music scene. - READ MORE AT: Metalassault.com
